Cancer is familiar to Sarah’s family, as both of her parents battled Hodgkins Lymphoma prior to her diagnosis. Although lymphoma is not a hereditary disease, its cause and origin is unknown. One thing is certain: this disease affects many young people. Blood cancers—leukemia and lymphoma, are the primary cancers in young adults.
Sarah is passionate about supporting organizations that are funding research to find the cause and cure a disease that is killing 20-somethings. She is launching an organization called How You Live, in effort to be a voice for the thousands of adolescents and young adults, just like her, whose lives have been interrupted by cancer.
The name of the organization is significant to Sarah, as it is the title of a song that became her “life song” when she was diagnoised with cancer. “How You Live” was written by acclaimed singer/songwriter, Cindy Morgan and recorded by Point of Grace in 2007.Â
